Indian Premier League

Indian Premiere League is halfway through and it is time to take stock. It all started with the Indian government denying the security clearance needed to hold the IPL. The government feared an attack by terrorist. How a nation which aspires for global superpower status can't guarantee security in its major cities is a distinction that only India can claim! The less I talk about it the better.
So due to this unfathomable reason IPL was shifted to The Rainbow Nation. Even before "Modi's Circus" got underway the BHOOKHA NAAN (I just love this name) raised a storm by giving a preposterous theory: THE MULTIPLE CAPTAIN THEORY. As expected everyone from Tom, Dick and Warne ridiculed it but coach stuck to it until of course Ganguly offered to resign on his part. It was only now did buchanan see reason and appointed Brendon McCulum was appointed the captain for the entire tourney. WOW a masterstroke. This move has single handedly ruined Knight Riders. The whole fiasco has just reinforced the importance of a good leader. Rumor has it that Buchanan has got the boot. If it is indeed the case then all I will say is Good Riddance. SRK has to learn a few things about cricket and Kolkata.
- Cricket is not Bollwood where if you have the best director then you can hide the "lack of talent" of your actor. In Cricket it is only the players who matter. Look at Rajasthan Royals. They hired the following guys after the auction: Lee Carseldine, Shane Harwood, Robert Quiney, Naman Ojha, Kamran Khan. They have all played for Royal and have performed and helped them to win. While KKR bought Mashrafe Mortaza for a price 12 times his base price and equal to what Fidel Edwards and Ravi Bopara combined cost and interestingly has not played. KKR needs better scout and better strategy planning.
- Kolkata is a cricket crazy city but they are even crazier for Ganguly who is their pride. So if you have bought a franchise for kolkata you have to bear him. That might not be such a bad thing after all. Ganguly has an awesome cricketing brain. My suggestion would be to give complete control to Ganguly i.e. is to follow the Rajsthan model.
